Dr. Karen Flannery attended medical school at Rush University in Chicago and completed her training in Internal Medicine at the University of South Florida in 2001. She is Board Certified in Internal Medicine, re-certified with a focused practice in Hospital Medicine, and additionally Board Certified in Addiction Medicine. Dr. Flannery has practiced hospital medicine and addiction medicine in West Palm Beach, Florida for nearly two decades, and has served at St. Mary’s Medical Center and Good Samaritan Medical Center as Chief of Staff and Division Director of Hospital Medicine. In addition to proficiency in treating complex acute and chronic medical conditions, Dr. Flannery brings to her patients and their families a sense of compassion, warmth, and empathy.
She is passionate about helping others understand that addiction is a chronic medical condition that can be successfully managed with appropriate professional care. She has also served as a speaker on the topic of reducing stigma in addictive and mental health disorders, and she continues to share this message with patients, families, and within the medical community. As the founder and medical director of Palm Beach Detox and Wellness Institute, Dr. Flannery is committed to elevating the standard of care in the treatment of patients suffering from addictive disorders.
